What’s Next in Advertising & Marketing
Paul Isakson has put together a great deck about what’s next in advertising and marketing. One slide in particular captures the ethos of his presentation, and is one that I wrote about several months ago as well:
“We’re not in the business of keeping the media companies alive,” Mr. Edwards says he tells many media executives. “We’re in the business of connecting with consumers.”

Slide 42 is amazing!
I find the idea that consumer’s perhaps aren’t quite sure what they want, and they need to be shown particularly provocative. It makes sense. The average person was walking around demanding facebook, or twitter, or an iPhone…perhaps there were rumblings of it; but there weren’t any signed petitions so to speak.

You’re right, and I think it’s finding that balance between sufficiently engaging your audience to understand their needs, yet bringing your own insightful ideas as a social designer that sets you a part.
