And with the wedding just a few months away, little did I know another life-changing decision was around the corner.

As fantastic as my time has been this past year at the incomparable Viget Labs, I simply could not refuse the opportunity to take a new position with the Washington-based interactive agency 14Four. Led by Jeff Oswalt and the rest of Team Awesome (yes, seriously), I will be joining the team as Director of Client Strategy. At 14Four I will help guide our digital strategy insights and build relationships with partner agencies. They’ve built a killer portfolio working with shops for such clients as Microsoft, Red Hook Brewery, Google and The North Face, and I’m beyond excited to help create amazing digital experiences for some of the top brands.

Despite being thrilled to return to my West Coast roots, it’s a bittersweet decision to leave our nation’s fair capital. There is an incredible community here with some of the best minds I’ve had the pleasure to connect with, and thankfully, my position with 14Four will have me returning to the East Coast on a regular basis.

This week will be my last at Viget, and then I will start with 14Four in the first week of March but will be working from here in DC through the wedding this summer. And then, we will be packing our things for the trek across the country in June/July-ish for the next chapter in life – starting our marriage and diving in at 14Four.

I couldn’t be more excited.

Spring is on it’s way here in DC, and maybe it’s all the more fitting that I’m also beginning a new chapter in life with a new job and this new blog.
Making just one change simply wasn’t enough. (And really, there was a third major change as well, which will be announced very soon. Kudos, babe.) But first, the new blog.

Thanks to the great refresh of an already solid design, I’m really pleased with the new site turned out. I’ve been enjoying simple, grid design as of late, and am happy to have a fresh new blog to coincide with the first week at my new job. I’ve never been one to really like the vast visual chaos that ensues from embedding badges and widgets on a blog, but hopefully the simple text of Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Delicious bring an efficient elegance to my blog’s usefulness. I hope you enjoy the refresh, but even as I’m still making a few tweaks here and there, please let me know what you think. Again, big thanks to Nick for his hard work, and JP for the killer referral.

While I’m stoked about the new blog design, I’m even more excited about joining Viget Labs as the Digital Media Strategist. This move comes after spending 2.5 excellent years with the CCCU. Leaving the Council was bittersweet, but in many ways, I think that’s how it should be – it means that the work and the relationships mattered. I moved to DC three years ago, not entirely sure where I would land. But the Council was the right job at just the right time, and I’ll be eternally grateful for the experience I had with the CCCU.

And now with Viget Labs, I’ll get to go deep in social media like never before. I’m joining a rockstar team that blends strategy, design, development and marketing into cooking up hot web business for clients. In addition to writing for Socialmediaworx, I’ll also regularly be working on the Viget marketing lab blog, Viget Engage.

It’s a wonderful feeling to walk into the office each morning and know you’re a part of something special. Here’s to making all things new.
